Our commitment to sustainability

Associated Seafood is committed to sustainability and is proud of the pioneering role our fishermen are taking in stock conservation. Our langoustines are sourced from the sustainably managed North Sea and West coast fisheries, with the majority of boats belonging to the Seafish Responsible Fishing Scheme. Scotland’s langoustine fishermen are dedicated to eliminating fish discards from their catches and have taken a leading role in recently developing a number of trawls that have reduced whitefish discards by up to 70%.

Our brown and velvet crab are sourced from Scottish fishermen using traditional creels and who have also utilised a range of conservation initiatives to ensure the sustainability of the stock. Our brown and velvet crab sourced from Shetland has achieved the prestigious Marine Stewardship Council Certification for belonging to a sustainable and well managed fishery.

For our smoked salmon, we only use the finest quality Scottish salmon that is produced to the highest sustainability and ethical standards. Our Scottish salmon is sourced from farms that are accredited to the Global Food Standard, the Code of Good Practice for Scottish Finfish Aquaculture, and GlobalGap Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status. Many of our farms are now also becoming accredited to the Freedom Food standard for animal welfare.
