Associated Seafoods enjoys strong interest in its premium Scottish shellfish and Scottish smoked salmon at Brussels seafood expo
Associated Seafoods Ltd (ASL) says it received a huge amount of interest from international customers at this week’s European Seafood Exposition in Brussels, including from Dubai and markets in the Far East.
ASL was part of the Scottish Pavilion at the expo and international seafood traders expressed particular interest in the company’s broad product portfolio range that covers premium Scottish shellfish (langoustines, crabs and scallops) and smoked salmon.
The company is currently engaged in a multi-million pound investment programme at its processing site in Buckie, north-east Scotland. Under the development programme, ASL is upgrading its existing Moray Seafoods processing site in a move that will enable its nearby Lossie Seafoods smoked salmon business to integrate into the facility and operate under the one roof in a state-of-the-art modern production facility. In particular the development of a new high class food manufacturing unit with cooking and added value facilities will enable ASL to innovate and develop a new range of seafood products.
Victor West, managing director of ASL (Buckie), said: “We have been delighted by the large level of interest from international customers in our investment programme and the resultant benefits this will bring in terms of the supply of premium shellfish and smoked salmon products.
“Markets in Dubai and the Far East have been showing particularly strong interest, and because we operate in the premium sector with a product provenance that is recognised globally, we are finding that quality Scottish shellfish provides the perfect complement to Scottish smoked salmon in terms of customer fulfilment.”
The European Seafood Exposition in Brussels runs from 23-25 April.
